Our Story
Indo American collaboration is getting deep-rooted day by day.
We in Virundhu thought it fit to join with our culinary expertise in this venture. America is home to Mexican, Italian, and Spanish cuisines and it is time for Indians to join the party. “If you travel a hundred miles in India, you get a new food taste” is a truthful saying. Two software engineers from India hit upon the name VIRUNDHU to fetch the palate ten thousand miles away in America for the Americans living in the Philly area in all its variety and authentic fares. To enhance your experience, we add another traditional element THE BANANA LEAVE that would plate the palate. Wonder why Banana leaf?
Virundu means feast in Indian parlance. Banana leaves are part and parcel of any feast in India particularly South India. Apart from a presentable green base, it has proven medicinal value as the leaves have anti-bacterial, antioxidant properties that can possibly kill the germs in food.
Oxidants generate a deleterious process that can seriously alter cell membranes and other structures in the body. Hence the need for polyphenols and antioxidants. Banana leaves are rich in antioxidants that are found also in green tea and plant-based foods. Banana leaves are broad enough to hold a full-fledged Indian meal and suitable to get cut to suit different platters. The oil-rich, spicy rich Indian meal is well accepted in the digestive system when eaten in Banana leaves.
The best advantage of banana leaves is, they are hygienic, natural, environment friendly, and easily disposable and thus very suitable for the present day Covid19 infected phase.
